The Sony A7S II, announced today, has the same huge ISO range (50 to 409600) as the original model, but now it's packing 5-axis image stabilisation as well.

The original Alpha A7s had a maximum of 409,600 max ISO that allowed images to be captured in near darkness. For greater comfort and safety, Sony is also launching the LCS-EBF; a new premium leather body case for the a7S II which is also compatible with the a7R II and a7 II. Sony claims the high ISO sensor is good at eliminating noise that the camera can focus on objects that can't be seen with the naked eye.

The impressive video credentials of Sony's new a7S II camera include the ability to record movies in 4K quality internally through use of the advanced XAVC S codec4, which can record at a high bit rate of up to 100 Mbps. Additionally, the 1080p footage will be filmed at 120 fps with a full-frame readout. This is extended further with the addition of new movie shooting options such as S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 which deliver a wide 14-stops of dynamic range and improve post-processing options. But for those times when you're still stuck shooting with a slow shutter, the A7S II now has the same 5-axis image stabilization as the A7 II and the A7R II to cancel out shake while using a telephoto lens, or smooth out camera movements when shooting at night.

The XGA OLED View-Finder in the A7sII has been upgraded and apparently offers the world's highest viewfinder magnification.

When it comes to retailers, the camera will cost ,000. The a7S II is also Wi-Fi and NFC compatible and fully functional with Sony's PlayMemories Mobile application available for Android and iOS platforms, as well as Sony's growing range of PlayMemories Camera Apps, which add a range of fun creative capabilities to the camera. The company also says that it will add seven new full-frame lenses to its lineup by early 2016, which means owners of the A7s II (and the rest of the A7 line) will have 20 native lenses to pick from.
