The new HX80 compact camera features a 30x optical zoom and 18.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor. Sometimes you want a camera that takes a bit higher quality shots, or maybe you want some serious zoom that a fixed lens just won't give you.
The company boasts that this is the world's smallest camera with 30x optical zoom.
In related news, at the WPPI 2016, a professional tradeshow dedicated to the wedding and portrait photography industries, Sony announced it is developing a wireless lighting control system. The HX90V included the same 1080p Full HD video recording, with support for XAVC S format 50Mbps nitrate, as well. Sony's latest compact camera also features a 921k dot LCD screen which is capable of tilting a full 180 degrees for easy selfies. Additionally, the camera includes built-in Wi-Fi and NFC for compatibility with Sony PlayMemories camera apps.
The camera is due out in April, for a retail price of around $350. Designed for professional photographers who use Sony's Alpha interchangeable lens cameras and external flashes, the system would consist of a wireless radio commander (FA-WRC1M) and wireless radio receiver (FA-WRR1).
The light control system be provide flash sync speeds of up to 1/250th of a second and also provides high speed sync (HSS) ability. Photographers will have access exposure controls of connected flash units either manually or automatically depending on preference, Sony said.
The Wireless Lighting Control system will be available this summer. Pricing and additional specifications will be forthcoming.
