Microsoft chose to release the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade only to devices that are capable of offering the full experience on the new OS, so several Windows Phone handsets are left behind. The toggle is accessed by holding the Camera button on the navigation bar whilst on the lock screen for around a second, before vibrating and opening the Camera app.
This feature seems to be similar to those on Android and iOS, as both platforms come with a camera icon on the lock screen and allow users to launch the camera and quickly shoot a photo without forcing them to unlock the phone.
The camera button was first spotted by WinBeta on a Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build. Redstone builds are Insider Previews that are released to a beta test group. But later, the company also began downloading the Windows 10 installation files on different systems, and many users accidentally clicked on update prompts, ending up getting Windows 10 on their system. Although this feature provides access to camera features, it doesn't compromise the phone's security because it doesn't allow users to browse the gallery or access any other app on the device. Winbeta also claims that while the toggle doesn't appear to be fully customizable yet, this could also change before Redstone is officially rolled out. While the latest Redstone build wasn't pushed to Windows Mobile Insiders due to a cellular bug, there is news that it has now been fixed.
The update is being delivered through the store, and if you haven't yet upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile but plan to do it sometime in the future, you should really get this new version as soon as possible.
