Microsoft Updates Windows Camera App For Windows 10 Mobile And PC

Microsoft Updates Windows Camera App For Windows 10 Mobile And PC

Microsoft has made Windows 10 freely available to all users who have a genuine licensed copy of Windows 8, 8.1 and even Windows 7.

Recent internal Windows 10 Mobile builds appear to include a new feature on the lock screen that gives users quick and direct access to the Camera app, something that many Insiders have been asking for since Windows Phone 8.1 back in 2013. Devices like the Lumia 650 could definitely do with an on-screen camera button and if other manufacturers eventually chip in, they might also appreciate the feature. As of now, the dedicated camera button is only visible if you're using on-screen buttons, reports WinBeta, and there isn't an option to customise it's placement.

This feature seems to be similar to those on Android and iOS, as both platforms come with a camera icon on the lock screen and allow users to launch the camera and quickly shoot a photo without forcing them to unlock the phone.

And yet, it goes without saying that this is quite an important update given the fact that it's supposed to make the transition from Windows Phone to Windows 10 Mobile smoother, so every single bug fix and performance optimization is more than welcome. Winbeta also claims that while the toggle doesn't appear to be fully customizable yet, this could also change before Redstone is officially rolled out. A new build is likely to debut the next week, Gabe Aul, head of the Insider program revealed, as the company held back this week's release because of a cellular data bug discovered at the very last minute.

What do our readers think of this possible nifty addition to Windows 10 Mobile Redstone?

New 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' trailer debutsThe first Rogue One trailer for the upcoming movie in the Star Wars universe has been released by Walt Disney Co (DIS). At the same time, Vader has hired bounty hunter Boba Fett to track down the last of the Jedi.
