Google keeps making awesome IOS apps. This time, say hello to motion stills. it's a new app from google research that turns apple's live photos into animated gifs, or movies. If you have a newer Iphone like the iphone 6S or iphone 6S+, your phone can take something called live photos. When you press your finger on a picture taken in live photo mode, you will see an animation of a moment before you took your photo. The photo itself and a moment after the photo. Sound is also captured during this. Google calls it's new motion stills app a virtual camera operator for your Apple Live photos. The app can stabilize shaky shots by creating a virtual camera pad. The action also recognizes motion in both the foreground and in the background. The results are pretty astonishing. Take a look at this run in a field. Before the aft shaky and jarring. After, super smooth motion. The same is true of this mountain scene. On top of that Google added what it calls loop optimization. That means the app will figure out when to start and stop your new animation. So no more footage of you putting your phone back in your pocket. The motion [INAUDIBLE] app even works offline. It just needs access to your photo library. After the app is done with your photo you can export it as an animated gif or as a movie clip. This makes live photos a lot more sharable. Currently only certain Apple devices can easily view live photos. Motion stills is available now in the app store and its free.
