Panasonic P71 is the latest smartphone launched by the company in the Indian market. It comes with a polycarbonate back cover and sports decent specifications though it falls back when compared to the online exclusive devices like Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Meizu M3S. It comes in two variants where the 1GB RAM variant costs Rs. 7,490 and the 2GB RAM variant costs Rs. 8,190. It is dual SIM device and supports 4G VoLTE which makes it usable with Jio 4G. The user can also get a free Jio 4G SIM with Jio Welcome Offers including unlimited usage of data, SMS, and voice calls. While this offer lasts until December 31st, few rumors suggest the device to be extended upto March 2017.
Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Business Head of Panasonic Mobiles India said,

Our research shows that there is a demand for affordable smartphones that offer the users a plethora of exciting features. With P71, we aim to deliver maximum experience to our customers with a phone packed with features. Our new smartphone is a VoLTE device with 2GB RAM & 2000 mAh battery, thus, providing a better solution to consumers who want long operational hours on a smartphone."
It sports a 5-inch IPS HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by an unknown MediaTek quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz. Both the 1GB and 2GB RAM variants come with 16GB of storage that can be further expanded upto 32GB via MicroSD card slot. It is backed by a 2,000mAh battery that might not give more than a day of usage. In the camera department, there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP selfie camera on the front. The Panasonic P71 is mentioned to measure 143 × 71 × 8.15 mm and weighs 138 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
The device will be available in Ivory Gold & Dim Gray Black color options. The device will be across Indian via online and offline stores. Last month, the company has the launched the Panasonic Eluga Tapp smartphone priced at Rs. 8,990. This device comes with a fingerprint sensor that is integrated into the physical home button. The Eluga Tapp sports a 5MP front camera while rest of the specifications remain same as on 2GB RAM variant of Panasonic P71. The "Android for Work" option on this device differentiates the business apps and personal apps. With the fingerprint sensor, the data on the Eluga Tapp will be a bit more secure.
